Misfit favorites....

This past month, since I started taking pictures again regularly, I've become a lousy blogger.  And a rotten mommy-photographer.  I'm lucky to fit in one or two blog posts a week. And suddenly, I'm not taking pictures of my kids nearly as often.  But, I vow to change that.  I took a bunch today and will post those soon.  I also signed up for "Picture Inspiration" (so excited!) but I haven't taken a single prompt shot either.  Maybe I can catch up this weekend....

In the meantime, I wanted to show a few pictures from some of my recent sessions that didn't make it into the original post. Even through some are out of focus or the color is off, there is still something that I really like about each one.  Or for some, I just didn't see them the first go round, but loved them on a second look.  Regardless, each of them seem real to me.  Honest.  Full of life.  "Misfits" in the best possible way..... (Of course, not the people.  Just the photos!)

Here is a perfect example.  Obviously this is out of focus, but I love Anthony's expression.  He was so alert the day we took photos.  Watching everything.  And this shot just epitomized that for me.

I love the street that Brian and Erica live on.  All of these beautiful brick buildings, wrought iron gates. Narrow streets with snow piled high.  Great character.  And how cool is that street lamp?

Again, completely blurred.  The camera focused on the falling snow rather than my subjects.  But I love it. "Dreamy," as my sister-in-law would say.  And, I love the way Sugar is looking at Brian and Erica. The picture feels comfortable and familiar to me.

These next few were just shots I liked even more during my second look at all the pictures we took of Taylor and Abby.  In this one, I love Abby's hair framing her face, and the light coming in from the window on the left.

I love this moment.

I have a whole series of shots with Abby putting on every piece of jewelry she owned.  And trust me, she had plenty!  There is just something about this one in particular.  Her gaze maybe.  The blurred background.  All the bright necklaces. Whatever it is...I just liked it.

And these next two....well, there were just so many darn cute pictures of Brennan, that I couldn't fit them all into my first blog post.  Here are another couple.

Be still my mama heart....

I'm so grateful to everyone this past month for their time and good looks!!

And with sessions booked through June, I can't wait to see what is next.

I'd love to hear from you. Click on "comments" below.

Ben, Sandra and Brennan....

Brennan just turned one, and he is still celebrating!

IMG_3770

You probably remember this little guy from a few months back. (check out the post here).  It's amazing how much changes during that first year. Brennan is now mobile (although not quite walking) and oh-so-curious!

IMG_3548

He really is all action and all personality.  In a word: ADORABLE!!

IMG_3557

Brennan still loves the family tortoises, especially when he can get up close and personal.....

This next picture just says "hip mama" to me.  And Sandra is just that. (I think this is one of my favorites from the day.  But then again, there were lots of favorites!! I love it when that happens.)

IMG_3607

Brennan's mom and dad have a huge comic book collection in their basement.  And Brennan, donned in his Spider-man tee, had the chance to play with a prized Captain America figure, just for the shoot.....

IMG_3716

Brennan: "Oh, so you dare to ask "Spider-man vs. Captain America?" Shocking!!"

I think Brennan has an opinion on this matter....

According to one online poll I found (and trust me, there are MANY!), one comic fan says: "There's no contest. Spider-man would win simply because his superhuman traits outmatch Captain America's peaked-but-limited human abilities."

Considering Brennan is trying to EAT Captain America, I'd say he agrees....

Since it wasn't 10 below (for a change), we went outside for a few more shots.

After all of that smiling and posing, this little guy was ready for a nap!  (love that tummy!)

Sandra and Ben, thank you for being my first repeat customers!! Once again, I am completely charmed by dear Brennan. I can't wait to show you more!! (and trust me, there are MANY more!!)

Taylor, Abby (and Jill)....

Jill is my dear friend from WAAAAY back. Oh the stories we could tell (but we won't!  It's safer for all of us that way....) We don't see each other often enough these days, but we have one of those friendships that just falls right back into line, regardless of how much time has passed.

Jill and her dear husband Jeff have two beautiful daughters.  It seems like they were babies only yesterday.  But now those little girls are growing into the sweetest young ladies.  I was so excited to stop by on Saturday and snap a few shots.

This is Taylor. She is in second grade and her eighth birthday is just around the corner.

And this is Abby.  She is in her last year of preschool and is oh-so-ready for kindergarten.

You can just see the little girl look fading away in this shot.  So grown up. Somehow, those years just fly by.

IMG_3474

Quite the charmer, this one....

IMG_3337

I think this is one of my favorite sibling photos ever. And the great thing is that the girls posed it all on their own. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time to capture the shot.  Thank you Abby and Taylor!!

And thank YOU Jill.  It was wonderful to see you and your beautiful girls.  (more soon!)

I'd love to hear from you. Click on "comments" below.
