Picture the Holidays: Warm Glow
Nothing beats the warm glow of candle light. There is something so sacred about lighting a candle, especially during the holiday season. Each time I strike a match and burn a candle I am reminded of the power of intention and how my own attention can make such a difference in my daily life. Today, capture the glow of a candle to signify what is meaningful in your life. Make a wish, set an intention, pray, meditate and shoot.
So at first, I had no idea what I'd post. I used to be all about candles. Then I had kids. Now I can't even reach the damn matches. But, I figured I'd try. So I climbed up on a chair, and then the counter, and found a book of matches.
This first candle photo was my test shot. It was cold outside (cold!), and I didn't want to have to adjust my exposure out there. So, I just aimed towards the window, and I liked what I got.
I like how simple this shot is. Somehow it says "hope" to me.
Of course, I wasn't going to settle for just the test shot, so I took some more. Those are at the bottom.

Today, the light outside was amazing. Plus, there was all this snow still piled everywhere. I couldn't stop myself from running outside every few hours (okay - minutes) and taking a few pictures. It was stunning.
And then there was the sunset....
Now, I'm not much of a sunset kinda girl, but again...I couldn't help it. It was the light. Made me a little crazy.
It sounds like winter too. I love that. The muffled silence that comes with the snow.
So, every time I lit a candle today, it seemed that Anna was right there. She'd run over, sing a quickie version of "happy birthday" and then blow out the candle. (thanks Anna!) But, she finally quit blowing long enough, and I got this shot.
I love the light on her face.
She is my light.
(oh damn...another Reverb10 prompt just showed up in my inbox. I'm so behind....Catch-up post coming soon!)
It all looks so magical where you are and I love your warm glow shots.
