As ever...

Picture the Holidays: Sincerely Yours
This is the one time of year where the near lost art of letter writing is revived. Slow down a little today and appreciate all the handwritten epistles you come across. Whether they are to you, or from you, revel in the delight of letters and cards. Signed, sealed and/or delivered, capture sentiments crafted with love.

Just the other day, I ran across these letters that I had carefully tucked away.

Years ago, while I was traveling abroad, my two grandmothers were among my most faithful writers, keeping me up to date with all of the latest family news and daily happenings - - quilting, babies, birthdays, holidays and gardens.

I cherished the letters then. And I cherish them now even more.

I miss Grandma Pexa and Grandma Pavek so much, particularly at this time of the year. I was very fortunate to have them in my life for such a long time. They were my pillars. And they hold some of my fondest Christmas memories....

What a blessing.

(Tonight I also found this picture of Grandma Pexa. She was quite the fisher-woman! Posted to Paper Heart Camera for "bokeh" show and tell.)

Reverb10: Appreciate
What’s the one thing you have come to appreciate most in the past year? How do you express gratitude for it? (Author: Victoria Klein)

The power of gratitude. (check out "everyday gratitude" over on the right).

I am amazed at how this little gesture has impacted so much in my life. Each day, I celebrate all that is good and positive and possible.

This is certainly something I will carry into the new year.

  1. Gorgeous photos and wonderful sentiment. That's so wonderful that they wrote to you so often and that you kept the letters.

I, too, am excited when my kids don't have homework. This week, my second grader's homework is to help around the house. Now, that, I love.
